"First let me say I'm a certified technician for Suzuk, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and Kymco. I know how fustrating it can be diagnosing issues with customers vehicles. A bad dealership can make people give up on their toys simply cause small issues cannot be fixed by inexperienced mechanics and technicians. Picked up a 2004 Sea Doo GTX wake edition for the low. Guy told me the gauges and ECU needed to be replaced. Thats what the dealer he took it too told him it needed. After getting it home and putting a fresh battery in it the ski fired up and ran but sometimes it wouldn't come on when the lanyard was installed. I downloaded the service manual and started familiarizing myself with this brand of ski. As I was researching the ecu and mpem I came across Nick's website. I figured I might as well have a technician familiar with this brand take a look at my units before just replacing them. I called and Nick answered and I explained what I had and what I had discovered so far. After explaining everything to Nick, he told me there was a good chance nothing was wrong with my ecu, mpem and gauges. He told me to disconnect the harness from the mpem and pull each wire out and clean the connectors. Once cleaned then to squeeze them together a little so the can make a more secure connection. He told me once I do that to call him back and let him know how it did. Well, after following his advice the boat now comes on every time the lanyard is connected and fires up with no issue. Gauges works fine, no error codes and runs great! I got one helluva deal on a ski that the owner thought was a lost cause because the dealer he took it too said it needed those parts replaced. Even used those parts totalled over $1k. A phone call to a stranger saved me that money and the time it would have taken to eventually figure that out. Nick is one helluva technician! Its rare to find such a person to give their knowledge freely to help a stranger. Best believe I will be buying all my used parts and equipment from him here on out. "Hands down one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had. I am in the process of bringing an old 96 XP back to life. After spending at least 4 hours chasing electrical circuits, cleaning terminals, and re-seating connections, I was stumped because the Seadoo would not recognize the DESS Key. I started searching on line and found the horror stories about the dreaded MPEM. Everyone was saying it was common for the MPEM to go bad, and they are upwards of $200. I was advised to reach out to Nick from Westside Powersports, and I'm glad I did. I shot Nick a text message Saturday morning, not really expecting a reply until Monday, but to my surprise, he answered within 10 minutes. I described my issue to him, and he convinced me that the DESS post was toast, and that my MPEM was probably fine. This was music to my ears, because the DESS posts are $50, and not $200. I purchased the DESS post from Nick and it showed up at my house Monday afternoon. Went out to the ski, swapped the post out, lo and behold the Ski recognizes the DESS key and cranks right over. The best part of my experience was that Nick was willing to exchange conversation with me and actually listen to my issue and help diagnose it, instead of just trying to sell me parts. Nick could have very well sold me an MPEM, then when it showed up and didn't solve my problem, had the joyous experience of selling me even more parts. "I got burned by an aftermarket mpem for a 98 xpl. Called Nick late on a Friday and he had an OEM mpem in the mail the next day expedited. Put it in Monday and the ski fired right up and ran like a top. Stay away from aftermarket and just give nick or jess a call. "I had recently purchased a 155 4 tec engine complete from Jess. I was a little leary buying from someone over the phone, but I am so glad I did. They motor shipped out quickly and was squeaky clean. The previous owner had taken it to three different Seadoo dealers trying to fix its cavitation problems and spent about $2000 trying to fix it.I got it cheap. Nick said he could fix it.
